President’s Message

A Message From the President

Chartered October 1, 1927, Alpha Gamma Omega is the first and oldest graduate chapter west of the Rockies and has proudly served the greater Los Angeles area for 89 years. Our 11 charter members were influential leaders of African-American women providing programs and scholarships to address the needs of our community during a groundbreaking period. We also hold the distinction of being the only Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter in the southern California area to own a sorority house, which is located in the historic West Adams district of Los Angeles. Today, our chapter consists of a diverse group of approximately 200 poised, talented, and, professional women actively engaged in working with the community to fulfill the goals of our 2014-2018 International Programs, Launching New Dimensions of Service.

Under the leadership of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s International President Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, our program features Five Target Areas, One Signature Program (A.S.C.E.N.D.), and Community Service Days. The five target areas are: 1. Educational Enrichment, 2. Health Promotion, 3. Family Strengthening, 4. Environmental Ownership and 5. Global Impact.

We thank you for visiting our website in an effort to learn more about our chapter and encourage you to visit frequently to stay abreast of our upcoming programs, activities, and community service projects. We welcome any member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to visit our chapter meetings on the first Saturday of the month at 12 noon.

“AGO is on the Go” in 2016 and the women of Alpha Gamma Omega will continue to be of “Service to all Mankind”.
